Our Mission

Our non-profit mission is to provide charitable services to school-age children from underprivileged communities by providing comprehensive mentoring and essential resources that promote their holistic development.  

We strive to bridge the gap in education and personal growth by offering access to academic support, life skills training, and emotional well-being resources. Through mentorship, after-school programs, and community partnerships, we aim to inspire confidence, ignite curiosity, and cultivate resilience in each child. Our goal is to equip these children with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally, preparing them to become empowered, engaged leaders in their communities.

About the Founder

My name is Gisela “Gigi” Malcolm, and I am the proud founder of Building Wise Individuals Inc. I created this nonprofit with one purpose in mind: to make sure every child knows they are capable, valued, and born to succeed. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand how the right support, guidance, and encouragement can change the direction of a young person’s life. That is the foundation of my passion for uplifting our youth and serving the communities around me.

For me, this work is more than a mission—it’s a calling. I believe every child deserves access to meaningful mentorship, academic support, emotional affirmation, and positive role models who consistently show up. Whether I’m reading with a classroom of pre-K students, supporting after-school programs, partnering with local schools, or providing essential items to families in need, my heart is always rooted in service.

Building Wise Individuals was born out of my desire to bridge gaps, open doors, and create opportunities that inspire confidence and growth. I am committed to helping children build strong foundations—academically, emotionally, and socially, so they can thrive not just today, but throughout their lives.

Every time I step into a school or community space, I am reminded of why I started this journey: to help children believe in their potential and to remind them that success is not defined by circumstance, but by support and belief.
